Three-year-old Lighter made a serious first impression on May 6 at Horseshoe Indianapolis, drawing off to an emphatic 7 1/2-length victory in Race 1, a maiden special weight going six furlongs on the dirt.

Ridden by Marcelino Pedroza Jr., Lighter was allowed to settle early before making a strong move between rivals approaching the three-eighths pole. From there, the son of Constitution quickly took command and widened his advantage under steady handling through the lane, stopping the clock in 1:10.62.
Owned by Ann Harrison and Renata Hendrickson, Lighter was purchased by RB Bloodstock for $400,000 at the Keeneland September Sale. A big, strong colt who needed time to develop physically and mentally, he has continued to do everything the right way throughout his training and rewarded the patience of his connections with a dominant debut performance.
We are incredibly grateful to his owners for the opportunity and trust in our team, and to Margaux Farm for helping give Lighter such a strong foundation early in his development. Congratulations as well to everyone behind the scenes whose hard work helped get this talented colt to the races.
Excited to see what the future holds for Lighter moving forward.
