Brisset Racing kicked off the new year in strong fashion with a pair of victories at Oaklawn Park, one of the premier winter racing venues in the country. Located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Oaklawn Park is known for its competitive racing, deep fields, and rich tradition on the dirt, making it a proving ground for horses aiming to build momentum early in the season.
The day began with a sharp maiden-breaking performance from NZ Holly, followed by a decisive allowance win from Bricklin, marking a two-win afternoon for the barn.

NZ Holly Breaks Her Maiden in Gate-to-Wire Fashion
NZ Holly got the day started in Race 1, going gate to wire to break her maiden by 4 1/2 lengths over six furlongs on the dirt.
The 3-year-old daughter of Yaupon is owned by Storyteller Racing, September Farm, LLC, and Black Fern LLC and was bred by September Farm & Black Fern LLC. Making just her second career start, NZ Holly broke sharply, took control early, and never looked back, showing professionalism and speed throughout. She was ridden by Ramon Vazquez.
It was an encouraging performance from a lightly raced filly with upside, and the team is excited to see her continue to develop as the year progresses.
Bricklin Caps the Day With a Strong Allowance Victory
Later on the card, Bricklin capped the two-win day with an authoritative allowance victory in Race 3, pulling away from the field to win by 3 1/4 lengths while going one mile on the dirt.
The well-bred 3-year-old colt by Nyquist is owned by Imagine Racing. Bricklin broke his maiden in October before stepping into graded company in the Grade 3 Street Sense. Returning off a brief freshening, he showed maturity and strength in his Oaklawn allowance effort, signaling he is ready to build on his foundation in 2026.
A Strong Start to the Season
Days like this are a reflection of teamwork, preparation, and patience. Brisset Racing extends sincere thanks to the entire barn staff for their hard work, to the owners for their continued trust and support, and most importantly to the horses for their efforts on the track.
Opening the year with two wins at Oaklawn Park is an exciting way to start the season, and the team looks forward to what lies ahead as the meet continues.
