At Rodolphe Brisset Thoroughbred Stable, our passion for the horses does not end at the finish line. It continues long into their lives beyond racing. We are thrilled to announce that our very own Brooke Baker, Owner and Manager of September Farm and Assistant Trainer of Brisset Racing Stable, will represent us in the 2025 Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) Makeover with HOZIER, a Brisset Racing graduate with a powerful resume.

Meet HOZIER: From Stakes Winner to Makeover Hopeful

HOZIER is a bay gelding foaled in 2018, bred by WinStar Farm. He is by Pioneerof the Nile out of Merry Meadow. Over the course of his racing career, HOZIER earned $759,205 in purses, was Grade 2 placed, and became a multiple stakes winner.

One of his standout moments came in November 2022, when he scored in the off-the-turf River City Stakes at Churchill Downs, setting the pace and never looking back. He also captured the 2023 Kentucky Downs Preview Mint Millions at Ellis Park with a dramatic late rally.

HOZIER raced with determination and grit for Storyteller Racing, and now, under Brooke’s direction, he is beginning a second career where those same qualities can shine in a new way.

Why Aftercare Matters

Aftercare is very important to us, and it is special to see a talented racehorse on the track shine just as brightly in a second career. The Makeover is all about celebrating that transition and raising awareness for the versatility of Thoroughbreds.

The Retired Racehorse Project’s mission is to increase demand for off-track Thoroughbreds by showcasing their athleticism in a variety of disciplines. Since its founding, the Thoroughbred Makeover has grown into the largest retraining competition of its kind.

In 2025, more than 250 recently retired racehorses and former broodmares will compete October 8–11 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Ten different disciplines are offered, from dressage and show jumping to competitive trail and ranch work, giving each horse a chance to display new skills.

The Makeover is more than just a competition. It is also a gathering place for the aftercare community, with seminars, clinics, and vendor fairs that foster education and connections.

How You Can Support Brooke and HOZIER

We invite you to join us in supporting Brooke and HOZIER’s journey. Through the Make the Makeover campaign, every donation helps support aftercare!

  • Trainers who raise $1,000 or more through peer-to-peer fundraising for the RRP will have their $350 entry fee refunded.

  • Thanks to generous sponsors, the top three fundraisers will also earn additional prizes.

  • Give for one, give to all. When you support an individual trainer, you are helping strengthen the entire aftercare movement.
